A collection of documents on the 19th century

Endowed with nearly 8000 works (19th- and 20th-century works on political, social, and cultural history, biographies, memoirs, speeches, etc.), 450 doctoral dissertations and more than 1000 masters’ and DES theses related chiefly to the 19th century, the Library of the Center is open to all students enrolled in postgraduate, masters, and doctoral programs and to researchers. Borrowing privileges are extended to students of the University of Paris-1 and Sorbonne University working under the supervision of professors affiliated with the Center. Unpublished theses and dissertations are excluded from these borrowing privileges and may not be photocopied. Originally located at 17, rue de la Sorbonne, Staircase C, 3rd Floor, Room G014, the Library of the Center has had two locations since the start of 2005.

The historic collection, which includes:

1. Memoirs, correspondence, autobiographies, and other source documents dating from the 19th century

2. Theses, dissertations, and other "gray literature” held by the Sorbonne in the Center’s current Library.
 

The Library is open every day from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

. The modern collection (contemporary historiography) was moved to the Library of the Maison de la Recherche on the rue Serpente, where doctoral candidates and members of the Center may consult and borrow books.
